I have not only volunteered with Homeward Bound, but I have also adopted. This small group of volunteers work tirelessly to place over 700 dogs yearly; the dedication and commitment of this team is nothing short of inspiring. The application processors contact typically within 4-8 hours of receiving an application. The team reviews applications and conducts interviews to ensure the dog is an appropriate fit for the family, and if it is not, a more appropriate dog is suggested. The goal is always to make sure that the adoption is a win-win. They make sure that any current pets are altered, current on vaccinations, and heartworm preventative. The team provides guidance after adoption, including vet and trainer recommendations. The volunteers have a deep love and passion for all the dogs in our care. Rescue work is not easy; it is dirty, heartbreaking, soul-crushing, exhausting, frustrating, but it is also hopeful, promising, joyful, and no one does it better than the team from Homeward Bound. "Saving one dog will not change the world. But surely for that one dog, the world will change forever".
