Review for Community Access to the Arts, Inc., Great Barrington, MA, USA
I am a faculty artist with CATA. I give workshops using poetry as a guide to encourage the participants to express themselves as their self-knowledge and memories are stimulated. I have seen their self-esteem grow. The participants in my workshops, through their CATA experiences, support and love each other despite the differences in the types and levels of their disabilities. They love CATA. They are respected in their CATA classes and in their interactions with each other, faculty and staff. The mother of one of the participants said to me, with tears in her eyes, that she'd never imagined that her son would be able to reach his potential. But he has. David is a wonder.
I am extremely proud to be a part of CATA. The work is joyful. The work is rewarding. The work gives me, certainly, as much as I give.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
as a faculty artist. My students' work is always a part of the sharings CATA presents that include all of preforming art workshops. Many of us as faculty members, share with each other the beauty of the work and our joy in seeing the results at the sharings.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
hope to see it be able to offer to more and more the benefits of their classes that result in such positive personal growth in individuals with disabilities. The respect that individuals with disabilities are given is a tremendous gift that allows them to reach for their potential.
