I may be biased, having been CooperRiis' first executive director, but am happy to take a moment to point out that CooperRiis is an amazing philanthropic organization. It was founded by the philanthropy of a couple (Don and Lisbeth) because of (not for) a family member's needs. It has been fueled by philanthropy annually from hundreds of grateful parents, making it possible to offer generous rate reductions to families of limited means. The year I retired, (end of 2016) CooperRiis provided $3.5M in scholarships to about 50% of the families using its services. CooperRiis embodies the true meaning of philanthropy, the love of humankind, especially the love of those who are most vulnerable.
