Review for Turpentine Creek Foundation Inc, Eureka Springs, AR, USA
I first discovered Turpentine Creek on Handshake (a job posting board for University students) where they were looking for interns. After promoting the opportunity to my students, I started to dig in and learn a little bit more about them. I have been a regular donor since just before the pandemic. During the pandemic I watched their 2x daily FB Lives and got to know the keepers, vet, and some of the interns remotely. All of them have a true passion for what they do! The way that the animals respond to Emily's chuffs and presence after lifetimes spent in abuse and misuse quietly tells the story of the journey these animals go on in truly achieving sanctuary. I am proud to support Turpentine Creek and hope to get down there to visit one day.
Review for Turpentine Creek Foundation Inc, Eureka Springs, AR, USA
I am a career advisor at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Last February I remember looking on our student job center and noticed that this place called Turpentine Creek was looking for interns. I was intrigued and decided to check them out. For the last year I have faithfully followed them every morning at 9:30am and also at 3pm on weekends when they do their live Fecebook visits with their animals. Usually we are guided by a woman named Meg who provides such wonderful, detailed information not only on the animal residents, but on the species' general care and characteristics. I started donating almost immediately and then currently the proud adoptive mother to Chief the lion who they rescued from terrible conditions and unable to walk in Indiana last September. This Refuge really walks the walk and the animals they care for are so blessed to be there.
Review for ANGELS WISH INC, Verona, WI, USA
Angel's Wish is somewhat unique in the animal sheltering business in that the cats and kittens helped by AW spend 90% of their week in a home surrounded by kids, dogs, other cats, noise, and all the other things that an animal will encounter in any forever home. On the weekend they are brought to the shelter for people to meet them 1:1 and (with luck) go home. AW is an all volunteer organization with no paid staff existing entirely on donations it receives from its supporters and local businesses. People often find us on Petfinder.com and come in to see certain pets based on looks and wind up going home with that pet or another one (or two!) entirely based on their interactions. It's a very special place.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
I have adopted a cat and she's so well adjusted and comfortable in a home it's like she never spent a day in a shelter.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Greater organization by the board, but seeing as it's ALL volunteer we manage surprisingly well.
