Review for Educational Pathways International, Incline Village, NV, USA
My name is Rose Nyarkoah Gyesi. A final year Geography major student of the University of Ghana (Legon) and a beneficiary of the Educational Pathways International (EPI) scholarship programme. My academic journey has been joyous ever since I became part of this noble family. EPI has immensely supported my academic needs and helped me to stay focused on my studies. Not only this, our interactive sections as a family have groomed me for life after school. Through our regular meetings, I have been able to attain knowledge on good time management, presentation skills, writing of curriculum vitae and setting goals in life. Unlike other organizations, we are encouraged to partake in internships during vacations so that we acquire practical skills and acquaint ourselves with the outside world. Unfortunately, our lovely meeting sections was halted because of the alarming incidence of the Covid 19 pandemic and its protocols of social distancing. But however, our online platforms have been a better alternative for our interactions with the aid of our able Program Director.
These support from EPI has heightened my interest to be a better person and impact other people positively. Also, EPI’s key contribution to my academics has helped me to be a step closer to my dream. It has always been my career goal to be a Professor in the field of Geography, thus having a bachelor’s degree is preliminary.
This discipline (Geography) involves the study of the earth physical features, its systems, the related interactions with the inhabitants within it as well as the spatial organizations. By researching in this field and grasping a better understanding of the earth phenomena, I would be able to impart not only knowledge to students but also offer rightful recommendations on the environmental hazards such as flooding, mass wasting, waste management, deforestation among others that we face in our developing societies and Ghana as a whole. Again, becoming a Geographer is a right step in direction to contribute to the spatial planning and development of the country, Ghana.
It is with a grateful heart that I say a big thank you to EPI for this great support to me and other brilliant and needy students. I say “Ayekoo” for giving us the opportunities to achieve our dreams and goals for the betterment of our communities and the country at large.
