My Nonprofit Reviews

As a Youth Advisory Board (YAB) member for Plan USA, I've had innumerable experiences that have characterized my growth as a young leader. Although my time as a YAB member hasn't been as long as others, my previous work with Plan, and its mission, is what motivated me to stay involved.

I attended the YLA in 2019, and knew that this was a nonprofit that I wanted to continue to stay in touch with and be apart of. When I returned home from the YLA, and with mentorship from former YAB members, I was able to start a women empowerment club at my high school. One of my favorite experiences with Plan was doing a takeover for International Day of the Girl (IDG) in 2019, where I got to spend the day at the Creative Artists Agency shadowing the executive of foundations. I had the opportunity to meet one of the only women sports agents in the USA, and one of the founders of the Me Too movement. My conversations that day surrounded how to best uplift female voices in the media. I felt important knowing that these takeovers weren't only done by Plan USA, but also by Plan offices globally, making me feel part of something greater than myself.

Now that I am apart of the YAB, I get to help with things like the Youth Leadership Academy and IDG takeovers, and cultivate these life changing experiences for the next generation of young leaders. For me, Plan gives me the outlet to further my leadership skills and surround myself with like minded individuals, but also be able to give back in many different ways. I am continue to be impressed by the ways that Plan is able to efficiently uplift and project youth voices. We, youth leaders, are continuously put at the forefront of every project done by Plan, and that is something I'm grateful to be apart of.
