I've been a ChidFund supporter for decades and have had the joy of sponsoring two children through them. I am shocked to read some of the negative reviews as my experience has always been positive. Having worked in non-profits myself, I know that money is not always spent to keep the technology top notch (as money goes to the children, as it should). The website is not stellar but I also know they have a advisory committee of sponsors and they regularly seek feedback from sponsors on how they can improve their services/communication. Whenever I have had to call or email ChildFund staff, they've always been kind, responsive and helpful. I keep in mind that they have satellite offices in remote places which may not be able to keep up to the standards expected in the U.S. With regards to correspondence from my sponsored children, I have had great success with regular, personal letters. I also keep in mind that I am speaking with an 11 year old boy in another country and it might be very hard for them to know what to say to a grown woman who he's never seen face to face, other than a photo. Asking your child questions always helps. I will continue to support ChildFund and would not hesitate to recommend them to others!
