Review for THE HAVEN OF REST MINISTRIES OF BATTLE CREEK, Battle Creek, MI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am writing about the Life Recovery Program. It is a year long program for men that cannot afford rehab. These men learn how to deal with life, how to give back to the community, to respect others and theirself and how to care for others. This is a wonderful non-profit and I would recommend any one to go the the web site of the Haven of Rest Ministiries in Battle Creek and read about the LRP. Come to one graduation and how these men have turned their lives around.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

In the Life Recovery Program the men learn how to hold a job, respect their self and others, and to manage their money. These men has given back to their community by volunteering to help with what ever the community needs help with.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would get another building for the Life Recovery program for men and another building for women.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

To watch these men share their year long process on Graduation day with me and others that attend graduation day.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Linda Oman has volunteered here for 27 years helping from the soup kitchen to now in the Life Recovery Program. She is a wonderful lady.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

I would get 2 buildings 1 for men and 1 for women. I would invest part of the other money to make sure that the money would hopefully not run out. I would add onto the family shelter to house more families and put more advertisement out on the program.

Ways to make it better...

I do not feel it could be any better unless I could hand them enough money to get a bigger building to help more men with their problems.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Is money and people realizing that this is a very important program.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Everyone needs to come to at least 1 graduation to see how these men have changed.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & I help with raising money, golf outing, serve food, email to get others involved in the graduations of these men, and help in what ever area that they need if at all possible.
