Review for Seva Circle, Madison, WI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

When Storm Uri hit Texas this year, I was a Virginia resident who had recently moved to Texas. In Virginia we are used to snow and ice storms, but I witnessed firsthand the difficulties that my fellow Texans experienced with the lack of preparedness for this type of weather in Texas. I live in an apartment complex, and I watched people evacuating apartments because pipes were bursting everywhere (62 apoartments in just my complex)! Going outside was so treacherous because for days there was a thick slab of ice all over everything. All water had to be boiled. Some sat without heat. Help from the "normal" organizations was unavailable as they were also dealing with the same issues of damaged food and supplies due to lost electricity. Then Seva Circle reached out to help. They worked with local people like myself "on the ground" to learn where assistance was needed, and to lend a helping hand. Their acts of kindness included providing funds to Round Rock Area Serving Center in Austin so that they could restock the urgent food supplies that help the poor and homeless survive these types of events. They helped TMT insurance in Houston with a food drive to help two entire communities of physically challenged and elderly Vietnamese people survive the storm with basic supplies. These people fall below the aility to reach out for help as they have no internet or cannot speak English. Seva Circle is a wonderful non-profit organization and I highly encourage others to support their mission.
