Review for Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As the President of the Pittsburgh Regional Chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors, my chapter members and I have had the privledge of working with Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh performing property assessments to help determine a candidate properties suitability for the program and it's critical repair needs. Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh is a highly motivated, organized and dedicated group, working to improve the lives not only of it's clients, but to help entire neighborhoods improve their quality of life. If this group has a weakness, I have yet to find it. Their organizational skills are excellent; our people always know what needs to be done and by when. Further, my members receive ample praise and know how much their efforts are valued by Rebuilding Together. As a result my members are eager to help, and be a part of this terrific program. Our combined efforts with Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh, have created a pilot program for the coordinated efforts of our two organizations, Rebuilding Together and the American Society of Home Inspectors, and is being developed and distributed nationwide. This will enable members of both groups nationally to work together to ensure the best value and use for the dollar. I cannot say enough of my high esteem for this organization, it's members, leadership and it's help to the community, both in terms of value, and compassion.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The faces of the people it helps, and the volunteers who help them. If working with this organization doesn't give you an astounding sense of accomplishment and a warm fuzzy feeling, check your pulse.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Be proud of what it has accomplished!!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Among many things, the ability to see directly how our / my efforts have helped people.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Well organized, motivated, caring, hard working, goal oriented. The kind of group that makes you want to belong.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make this a better city and region for all who live here.

Ways to make it better...

It hadn't rained while we were building that deck!!!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Educating the public and officials on the need and importance of this mission.

One thing I'd also say is that...

With the aging population, and the strain on Medicare / Medicaid, this program will only become more important to the vitality of the region and the economy.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2007

Role:  Volunteer & personally, evaluated two homes, helped build a deck in Lawrenceville last year, and coordinated the efforts of our ASHI chapter.
