Review for Aleph Institute, Surfside, FL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

He has been ill for so long, he is the last survivor of a nationwide blood products contamination, which made many sick during the mid-1980's in France. The three sicknesses may have gone to his head. My husband became incompetent from transfusion-acquired diseases 25 yrs. ago in French ER that strayed into CNS through the liver. While we avoided the NYC winter for health reasons he was
brought down in FL. with a severe attack of dementia. I stayed as long as I could afford Florida.

I went back home to New York twice. I returned to MIA for a hearing Aug. 6th where I was able to convince the judge to place him in a hospital in Florida City, so he can get the medical attention he needs. I last saw Elie Aug. 24th. It is urgent I get back to him and make sure his rights are upheld and he knows he is loved, but if I can't, at least the Aleph Institute is watching his back.

The Rabbis from Aleph Institute have visited him many times and brought him his prayer items, encouraged him to maintain his Judaism during this crisis and reminded him he is not alone, B"H! He only reads French and Hebrew and I am his only family member in the US.

Because the Rabbis and staff at Aleph visit and help him on so many levels I am more at peace in that I can't be with him.
I created a website asking for additional donations directly to me so I can travel back. It is https://sites.google.com/site/arttzaddikim/ but I really could never raise enough funds to do the genuine outreach performed daily for so many other people too.

Since I am a single individual, I have not been able to raise anything so the fact that a non-profit takes the reins and do for me what I can't do for myself and for him is the true meaning of following through with the mission of the Aleph Institute.

Email me at arttzaddikim@gmail.com for further testimonial details.
(Anyone interested in helping me protect him, get legal help, raise transfer costs, write to me at POB 6222, Surfside, FL 33154. My mail is forwarded to NYC, as I am stranded here trying to get back to visit him as he is getting sicker! Donations can be made to Miriam Bens)

They seem to know what they're doing and have resources on many levels offered to particular needs.

To be extremely respectful and cordial to charity staffers, as the stress of allocating resources and time seems impossible, in light of the demands placed on them by virtue of their mission.

Review for The Granted Wish Foundation, Canton, OH, USA

Rating: 2 stars

I faxed over 9 pages of personal, very confidential information on 1/11/11 since the board of governors was to meet on 1/13/11. After I goggled the members, donors and nonprofit I got queasy, since they are so new. I have a dire situation, visible on my blog and facebook page and need to travel to Florida to see my dying husband who is in a court-mandated hospital since Passover, after we took a trip to So FLA for his health.
I hope I didn't mess things up!

We rec'd their app at the hospital and my husband mailed it back to me to fill out.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Create a less ominous presentation of donors. I am getting paranoid because of the anxiety involved in my situation with a gravely ill spouse and my financial inability to remain near him. I last saw him Aug. 24th.

Every wish organization has their own set of rules, guidelines and policies they must follow. Sadly, when a wish is unable to be granted, most people are very upset and tend to lash out at the organization as a whole as well as any individuals who are affiliated with it. They feel an injustice has been done to them personally, no matter how much you try to explain and reason. While that is understandable given the situation they are in, The Granted Wish does everything they can to grant qualified wishes that are being considered, but are not able to grant every wish received. And unfortunately, there are times when even wishes that are being considered are unable to be granted for various reasons and we do state that on our website and in all correspondence. If we had the ability to could grant every wish we received, we certainly would!
