Pete Red Tomahawk retired from working for the SRST nine years ago. He has assisted his community by communicating and contacting the Partnerships with Native Americans organization to help with bring relief to the Cannon Ball District. The Cannonball district community has a population of about 875 members and the community is continuously growing. The Cannon Ball district is located on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation (SRST). The community is a remote (rural) area without a lot of basic services. All services are located 30 miles south of Cannonball. The PNWA organization helped the district by providing healthy meals which increased community engagement, community education, and community health - provided services for infants, youth, adults and elders.
The SRST closed all tribal programs due to covid-19, beginning March 2020 – Present – programs still closed present date March 11, 2021.
