Review for Food & Water Action, Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I volunteer with both Food and Water Watch and Food and Water Action regularly (and have done so for about 5 years). They do amazing necessary work. They are nimble, local and national and aren’t afraid to speak truth to power fighting fights that many groups would shy away from thinking they aren’t winnable. I don’t know of any other nonprofit that brings their particular skill set to the environmental movement. And you know what? They win: from ending fracking, to stopping pipelines, to fighting for renewables, fighting factory farms, calling out false energy solutions, initiating lawsuits and advocating for legislation that insures a safe, habitable future. They work well with allies and empower individuals to get work accomplished. They have experienced policy teams that do deep timely analysis on the science. They are well versed in the theory of change and happily train people in the trenches to put it to use. From civil disobedience to legislative advocacy, they are on the ground organizing the grassroots power necessary to win campaigns. I highly recommend their work.

I am both a monthly donor and volunteer with Food and Water Action. They are the best. They are give me to the tools and training to fight climate busting bureaucracies, institutions and policies on the local, state and national level. I easily plug into ongoing campaigns. We also work with other like minded organizations to fight for environmental justice and a clean energy future forming deep coalition partners. They are inclusive, supportive and practical, developing effective strategies and campaigns to move us on a path to cleaner air, food and water, and moving us to 100% renewables. Here are a few photos from an ongoing campaign to stop a fracked gas peaker plant in an environmentally sensitive frontline community in Brooklyn, NY.
