Review for Goldens Without Borders Inc, Las Vegas, NV, USA

Rating: 5 stars

After our 13 year old "Buster" passed away in May 2020, my husband and I were devastated. We didn't think we could go through the heartache of losing another 4-legged family member again. So, we decided we would help others by becoming a foster family. We could provide a safe and loving home to dogs in need while they waited to be adopted. A friend of mine put me in touch with Goldens Without Borders. Learning about the rescues of Goldens all over the world by GWB, filled my husband and I with the desire to help this amazing organization. After completing the application to become fosters for GWB, Sheila called me and interviewed me over the phone. I was so impressed with her devotion and dedication to saving Golden Retrievers from around the world. I couldn't wait to be a part of such an amazing organization. Sheila told me GWB was in the process of rescuing a number of Goldens from China. The first group was arriving by a cargo flight from China to LAX and then a group of volunteers would be transporting the dogs to Las Vegas. My husband and I met the volunteers at the designated meeting place and became the foster family to a 5 year old male Golden Retriever. It was love at first sight! Our little foster was exhausted from his journey and slept most of the next 3 days. We will never know everything he endured before being rescued by GWB. What we do know is that he will always be loved and have a family devoted to his well-being for the rest of his life. We adopted our sweet Golden from GWB and have Sheila to thank for saving him from the slaughter house in China. I have never met a more dedicated and loving person so devoted to saving helpless Goldens. Sheila is the type of person that doesn't let the hardships of dealing with foreign restrictions and governments stop her from pressing forward to save a Golden from cruel and unimaginable outcomes. We owe Sheila a debt of gratitude and our thanks for giving us our Baxter. Without her so many Goldens would not have the loving homes they have today.
