Review for Wonderroot Inc, Atlanta, GA, USA
Wonderroot is an amazing hybrid organization that empowers positive community development through the arts and civic participation. I was truly amazed to find such a diverse mix of people with various talents and interests together in the same place. The Wonderroot Community Arts center is a place where artists, children, students, mentors and various community groups can come together to produce art, learn about techniques and help one another make a positive impact on the community they live in. Wonderroot also does a tremendous amount of outreach, working with a plethora of community groups in order to maximize their positive impact on the community. I have personally been in the center and heard young artists talk about how they would have moved to New York or Boston had wonderroot not been there for them. I have also participated in outreach to under-served schools where wonderoot enlisted artists to go into the school and teach poetry workshops to fourth graders. Such an amazing organization. I encourage anyone with an interest in the arts or community building to stop in and check them out.
More Feedback
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
The East Atlanta neighborhood. They have truly brought together a diverse set of people, talent and interests with the aim of championing arts and culture in Atlanta.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Be very proud of the impact I am having on the Atlanta community. I would also make plans to expand since the demand seems to be growing everyday.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The people. Wonderroot is not trying to impose any ideals or agenda on the communities they serve. Wonderroot simply wants to provide the arts infrastructure they believe is necessary to a successful community and a vibrant and healthy city.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Enthusiastic and kind. Everyone there is very giving of their time. They are willing to help if they can and willing to find someone who can if they can't.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Take over the world. Wonderoot's model has been so successful that they have reached capacity in their current location and are looking to open another community center in another Atlanta neighborhood.
Ways to make it better...
I had more time to donate. I'm still not sure that I didn't get the better end of the deal by going and working with the children.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Finding more space and time for their busy schedules. Everyday it seems like something new is going on.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Wonderroot is up and coming. They are a steady organization of good people working hard everyday to make Atlanta a better place to live.
