Review for The Mended Hearts Inc, Leesburg, GA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've continued to serve on the Board in this non-profit because I believe in it's mission. We help people by being the understanding and knowing group in which they can lean on without judgement or explanation. Mended Hearts, Mended Little Hearts, and Young Mended Hearts does great work for the local communities in which it serves, and really on a global level by advocating and educating the world on cardiovascular disease!

It is a pleasure to be part of the organization. From the moment I joined as a member, seeking support after my son's prenatal cardiac defect diagnosis, I felt welcomed and seen. Being part of a community of people with similar experiences in having a child with a heart defect is a comfort that not many can understand unless they have been through it. The support I felt was so great that it empowered me to become a better parent to my child, and advocate for all people affected by heart disease. I feel like I can turn to the people within this organization for advice and help when I need it, and also feel that I am able to help people in similar need. I am honored to be part of Board of Directors so that I may give back as much as I have received from Mended Hearts!

Without the people met and relationships formed through this organization, I can't say that I would have made it through my son's open heart surgery. The emotional support they provide is unlike any other. Over the years I have been involved in many organizations, and not one can hold up to MH as far as the connectiveness and want to stay in it. By joining MH/MLH I've been able to "pay it forward" by supporting other families going through our shared experiences.
