I started volunteering with Save the Whales through my service learning class at CSUMB. I was very excited help with an ocean conscious organization, and got to participate in adding "no dumping" emblems to storm drains around the Monterey area. I love that I can walk by them today and see a little piece of what I did, as well as a reminder to everyone who walks by it that what we do on land impacts the ocean.
I also got to help at multiple Whalefest events where Save the Whales has an amazing life-size inflatable Humpback whale. I love helping and seeing as the kid's faces light up when they learn they can go inside. It is truly a unique and amazing experience, and a great opportunity to start teaching kids about marine debris and what they can do to help.
Save the Whales is a fantastic organization to volunteer with a variety of education programs and community services. I have loved working with the staff and helping the environment and the community around me.
