Review for Achieve Tahoe, Alpine Meadows, CA, USA
This was such a wonderful experience for my son Michael!! He was 26 when he was very critically injured in a car crash when his friend fell asleep at the wheel. Michael wasn’t expected to survive (basically broke the right side of his body, and suffered 5 massive brain injuries)... but he did, and far surpassed what anyone would have expected!! I have to give a lot of the credit to his OT, Tom McCoin, who has worked with, and challenged, Michael for the last 7 years, since Michael had his right leg amputated at the knee. They’ve become friends rather than PT/client. Tom used to volunteer at Achieve Tahoe, and encouraged Michael to give it a shot. So we got him some warm clothes, and headed up there. Everyone we dealt with was SO eager to make Michael as comfortable as possible - both physically and emotionally!!! The young man holding on to the tether behind Michael’s seated ski, told him that he was doing better than some people who he’d helped numerous times!! If I remember right, Michael went down that hill 10 or 12 times!!! He was a champ!!! Can’t wait to get him back up there again!!!
