My Nonprofit Reviews

I give a $20 here and there to St.Joseph’s Indian School. I wish I could give more because many of the mailings contain really nice gifts. I give because as a Substance Abuse Counselor and having worked in the field of human services in Northern,NY I have seen the poverty that burdens local native reservations. I also know how addiction to substances and alcohol ravage native reservations because of the poverty. I’m not concerned about the mailings, most nonprofits have a development department whose only job is to solicit funds. It’s just the reality for nonprofits. It may seem like a lot of money is being spent on mailings but many companies will partner with nonprofits and offer discounted production costs because it benefits them fiscally in the form of tax write offs. Anyways, this is just my 2 cents.
