The Alameda County Community Food Bank provides an invaluable service to our community by providing food support, programs and services, and political advocacy to end poverty and address the social inequities that produces poverty. I have made this donation in honor of the students at Holy Names University in Oakland (www.hnu.edu), some of whom may have used this resource. They are an extraordinary group of young people who make extraordinary effort and demonstrate tremendous grit as they work to earn an undergraduate degree to better their lives as well as the lives of their family and local communities.
