Review for Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, San Francisco, CA, USA
I've learned so much since I began volunteering at the JCCCNC and I've developed a new sense of caring and passion for the Japanese culture, traditions and heritage. I just wish I could share these new experiences with my grandparents who are no longer alive, but in a way I do feel reconnected with them through the JCCCNC.
Growing up, I didn't realize the value of what my grandparents were trying to teach me, but now that I'm older (and wiser), I understand, I want to learn, I want to carry on the values and traditions that my grandparents worked so hard to preserve. The JCCCNC is giving me the opportunity to do so, and it is so easy when you're surrounding by a staff who are extremely passionate about what they do.
The JCCCNC does much more than most can imagine. You would have to work there or volunteer often to realize the amount of work they do for people, the community, and for future generations. It's truly amazing! But the sad part is that a lot of people won't realize their value until the day they are gone, which I hope never happens.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
2009 and 2010.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
add new programs for young professionals and baby boomers.
