Review for Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, San Francisco, CA, USA
Under the tireless leadership of Executive Director Paul Osaki and with the assistance of his incomparable staff, the JCCCNC provides countless services, programs and invaluable fellowship for the Japanese American (and general Asian American) community in the Bay Area and beyond. Their work inspires advocacy in its younger generation while taking loving care of its older generation. From basketball to taiko drumming classes to senior lunches to spearheading important legacy-building initiatives, this organization's heart knows no bounds. Bravo to the generous spirits that make the JCC such an incredible home for so many!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
advocacy, programming, outreach and many wonderful celebrations of the community! Their commitment to preserving the legacy of important Japanese American stories helped to support the making of our award-winning documentary film about Wat Misaka (the first person of color to be drafted into the NBA by the 1947 Knicks). Without this support, it simply would not have been possible to make this film.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
wish they could have endless funding streams so they could continue their work without any restraints!
