I'm a woman who was working at the U. N. in Vienna as a volunteer preparing documents for an international conference and I was asked by the African women why I didn't work on debt relief. I didn't know about this form of poverty. When I return to the U.S. I became involved with a new organization just starting Jubilee 2000. I have remained involved in many different capacities since late 1990. We change the name after 2000 to Jubilee USA Network but continued our work of debt relief. This organization makes enormous presentence in world organizations concern with debt relief with a very small staff. Their director is called on by agencies like the U.N., World Bank, and the IMF for his expertise. In the past years, we have started to be involved in other issues of debt.
