Review for Multidisciplinary Association For Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), San Jose, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I started following MAPS in 1995 while a graduate student at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. For various reasons, I took a 20 year hiatus from the "Work". I was still naive and inexperienced about psychedelics as my research was focused in a different thread when I diverged from "transpersonal" work... I ended up in the Navy Reserves and deployed several times to international regions of conflict (the Middle East). Upon my return, the depression and PTSD set in pretty hard. After about 12 years of "therapy" and getting no-where----my psychologist suggested Ketamine and she hooked me up with a trained psychiatrist who guided me through several sessions. I have been doing KAP therapy twice a week at home over the last 14 months. I have re-engaged with MAPS and --- with the mind liberating experiences of over 120 Ketamine sessions, I am able to engage in an intellectual way that I really haven't experienced since I "lost" my mind in the 1990's. I am very motivated in finding ways to get this medicine to the people who need it and want it. When mainstream treatments don't work -- or better yet -- as an alternative to mainstream medicine -- the use of psychedelics may be a way to side-step the pain and futile work of standard therapeutic tools such as "Big Pharma" medications and endless hours of therapy that got me no where because my brain was so constipated...The KAP and the exploration of the research provided by MAPS has changed my life (and consciousness) in so many ways. I am in the last trimester of my life and I have the motivation of a 25 year old -- I want to have a "Center" where people can open up to their own innate mind -- and be alive to the world and beyond ....
