I am grateful to have been the recipient of a spect scan. At the age of 13, I experienced a severe concussion while playing softball. When I woke up at the hospital I had my jaw braced and extensive dental work. If the accident had done that to my teeth, I wondered what it had done to my brain. Years later, when I began to work as a marriage and family therapist it became important to me to know how that accident had affected me. I also wanted to understand the process so I could help others who struggle with trauma and refer them.
