Fidos for Freedom is simply one of the most amazing nonprofit organizations I have ever encountered. As a training facility where volunteers bring together clients and service dogs-in-training to gain skills in partnering, it is exciting; as a center for a dedicated group of therapy dog teams, who provide comfort, education, and enrichment to people of all ages around the area, it is vital; and as a program in which clients with challenges related to mobility, hearing, or PTSD can team up with a dog whose loving companionship and service greatly improves their quality of life--well, that makes it miraculous. In working with Fidos as a volunteer trainer and therapy dog handler, I have seen that there is no greater reward than watching a therapy dog patiently interact with a disabled child, or than coaching an eager service dog to perform a task that would have been difficult for his human partner. Fidos truly does make a difference.
