The Head Injury Association of Northern Nevada (HIANN) has had the pleasure to partner with Achieve Tahoe the past two years in offering specialized services to our membership which focuses on individuals with traumatic brain injuries. Our first event was held at Donner Lake with Achieve Tahoe providing an extensive full day of on water sports events including kayaking, boating, jet skiing, and a variety of other activities including a delicious lunch. HIANN offers over 50 programs per year for our members and this was by far one of our most popular. Attending members and caregivers gave outstanding comments for the event and we really looked forward to offering two more events like this with Achieve Tahoe in 2020, but as with many of our activities, they were cancelled due to Covid. We did have Achieve Tahoe provide organizational and onsite support for 3 hikes this year, all successful. We also took advantage of their ski program at Alpine Meadows which our members enjoyed. I would give the Tahoe Donner Lake Day 5+ stars. Don't miss out on this one if you are considering it for 2021. We surely will not. The skiing event is a 5 as well. The volunteer staffs for both of these events were nothing short of incredible and I have no idea how they can find so many wonderful dedicated people, and we cannot forget that HIANN does have some physically disabled people that require extensive assistance and support that participate. This is a great organization to work with. Our only issue has been the administrative paperwork that is required for each person to participate. If your organization is geographically diverse like ours with members that have varying degrees of technical skills, make sure you get organized in advance. With that said, Achieve Tahoe offers a wonderful set of services and great staff. We could not offer programs like this without the support of a wonderful organization like Achieve Tahoe.
