People Making a Difference (PMD) is a great non-profit for those looking to volunteer without a repeat commitment. I volunteered with them as a college student at MIT, and I liked the flexibility and the diversity of the projects. They have been around the Boston area for quite a number of years and have some regular events they do on an annual basis as well as some one-off events. The founder, Lori, is quite involved, and she is always so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend volunteering with PMD for those in the greater Boston area!
