I first discovered Big Cat Rescue in 2016 through a local newspaper article about an abandoned baby bobcat left on the road, rescued and later released by Big Cat Rescue. This led me to Big Cat Rescue's wonderful website and to the Explore website with all the live 24/7 cams. I have always loved cats, both big and small, but honestly never thought about what happens to tigers and other exotic cats in zoos, or other such facilities. It never occurred to me that big cats born in cages can never go free, ever. I first visited the sanctuary in 2017 and visited many times after that and my heart is always there. In January of this year, I semi-retired, got in my car, drove to Tampa and began volunteering at the sanctuary. Sadly, COVID hit in March and I headed back up North. I hope to get there again to volunteer. But in the meantime, I do whatever I can online to help BCR and further their mission of no more cats in cages. I call my representatives every week and ask them to cosponsor the Big Cat Public Safety Act. BCR is accredited by GFAS, is completely and totally transparent and is my favorite place in the whole world.
