Review for The Hummingbird Project, Cleveland, OH, USA
I found out about the Cleveland Seed Bank because of their free seed packets display at my neighborhood public library here in the inner city. I took a packet of pumpkin seeds and ended up harvesting 2 New England Pie Pumpkins with which to gift my neighbors. Since then, I have been going to the amazing Winter Seed Swaps and their guest speaker programs. Because of their program on composting given by the Rust Belt Riders, I finally started my own compost heap this year! I'm an avid gardener, and so I get excited about such things. Anyway I have benefited from the Seed Bank, and because I grew some French Marigolds from my stash of seeds from the Winter Swap, my neighborhood also benefits from having something beautiful on the street. Beautiful flowers are good for the spirit.

Review for The Hummingbird Project, Cleveland, OH, USA
I went to my neighborhood public library and got some New England Pie Pumpkin seeds this past spring. The vines grew really well and flowered quickly. Tried the spinach and collard seeds, too. Unfortunately the ground hogs ate up my plants before they had a chance to thrive. Doggone ground hogs! The Cleveland Seed Bank, part of the Hummingbird Project is an excellent way for me to get seeds for my garden. I appreciate that I can get seeds when I go to the library! Actually got two pumpkins from the vines before the leaves succumbed to fungus. Next year I will try again with the pumpkin, collards and spinach. But this time I will arm myself with organic antifungal spray and a poultry fence to keep out those darned ground hogs!
