During one of our workshops with about 100 vulnerable girls at a school in South Africa, a 13-year old stood up and told her story about sexual abuse. She was brave and angry. Her story touched the hearts of everyone in the rom and soon, many girls were sobbing - as only young teenagers can. As the facilitator, I realised that the young girl had opened the proverbial can of worms. I did not know what to do to help these girls. There was just too many of them to apply the kinds of therapy I knew.
I recalled the tapping technique and within a few minutes, all the girls were tapping each other. the tapping technique was holding us. This allowed us to end the session with a sense of peace and togetherness.
