Review for THE CHAPEL OF FOUR CHAPLAINS (Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation), Philadelphia, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Chapel of Four Chaplains is a remarkable Chapel. This Chapel holds within its walls, one of the most heroic World War II stories of all time. The Chapel of Four Chaplains story relates to Four Army Chaplains of different faiths (Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Methodist Reformed) whom gave their life jackets to four others aboard the USAT Dorchester which was torpedoed on February 3, 1943 by a German U-Boat off of the coast of Greenland. These Four Chaplains prayed in their respective religions before they perished on the ship. There was 902 people on the USAT Dorchester. Out of the 902 people, 672 perished and 230 survived. Within the Chapel we have five bronze plaques that represent the 672 people whom perished. The significance is that these Four Chaplains were of different religions coming together as one.
