Review for Little Dresses for Africa, Rockwood, MI, USA
I first heard about LDFA in 2016 as I was preparing for my first mission trip with my church. I started sewing dresses and took 150 dresses that I had made with me to Malawi that summer. Since then, I’ve continued sewing hundreds more. In 2018 I started serving full-time at an orphanage in Malawi. As someone who interacts daily with the children in the villages, I see not only the need for clothes (as most of theirs are falling apart), but also the need for hope. These kids are starving! They are hungry for any hope we can give them. And by sharing new dresses with the kids, it opens the door for us to share the gospel with these kids and their communities. This is what they need more than clothes. They need hope! I am thankful for the work being done by the hundreds of volunteers with LDFA who sew, sort, package, ship and deliver these dresses...but most importantly, with each dress is hope. And hope brings a smile to every face I see out there in the villages of Malawi. I have stories for days about the lives that are being changed when these kids receive hope and are told that they have not been forgotten. They have not been left alone. They are loved by us, and even more than that, they are loved by Jesus, their Heavenly Father.
