One morning in mid-summer, my husband went into the toolshed to pick up his gardening tools and found a newborn kitten at the bottom of a fifty-gallon barrel. Although Canine Rescue is primarily for dogs, it was the first place I thought to call for guidance because I knew Sybil would have something wise to suggest. And she did! She just happened to have powdered kitten milk on hand that we were able to mix up and feed to the little one through a dropper. Eventually the mother showed up, but we did used the powdered milk again with a nippled squeeze bottle when the inexperienced queen left the kitten for too long stretches in the heat before the little one learned how to drink water.
