Shane Gill
Review for Protospace, Dublin, OH, USA
ProtoSpace is a wonderful concept whose time has come ! It has been awarded 501(c)3 status, has a solid business plan, and committed leadership. Founder Shane Gill of Dublin, Ohio has been a science and technology enthusiast since childhood. Tired of 'cheerleader' organizations that simply required annual dues to be paid in exchange for periodic newsletters to members on the accomplishments of others, he began to conceptualize an interactive organization that would rely on the expertise of active members to accomplish organizational goals. The stated mission is to be dedicated to the advancement of science and engineering education through Internet-based global collaborative design and assembly of member-generated concepts. Awarded 501(c)3 status as an educational non-profit organization.

Discussions with others with similar interests or professions. Most are in agreement with the concept and the need for such an organization, but are not able to devote the time or resouces to make it a reality.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Have included a broader support base and secured multiple sources of financing in the start-up phases. I paid all costs out-of-pocket until I could afford it no longer. Hoping a good Samaritan or similar science, technology or educational non-profit will consider ProtoSpace as a add-on to their existing programs. I would consider it an honor, and would devote my professional life to making ProtoSpace a reality !
