Review for San Diego Brain Injury Foundation, San Diego, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been affiliated with SDBIF ever since I got of the hospital after suffering a severe traumatic brain injury, back in 2014. Volunteers, Board Members, and every attendee at SDBIF events are very amiable and kind hearted. The former CEO, Susan Hansen, has still been an active part of the community since retiring, and current CEO, Kurt Buske, is personable with volunteers and members. Both are wonderful people to be around.

Every year, the SDBIF holds a few key events, such as the Walk for Recovery in March and the Friendraiser in September. The Walk for Recovery is a brain injury awareness walk facilitated by board members and volunteers of the SDBIF, where both members of the general public and brain injury survivors take part; it is hosted in March because March is TBI awareness month.

The Friendraiser, held in early to mid September, is a art showcase wear Survivors who are artists of any kind can display and even sell their art. I myself have been a vendor at the Friendraiser for 3 years now, and have sold many pieces of artwork every year there.

I have made many connections through the SDBIF, with fellow survivors, their families, and other members/attendees alike. I highly regard their contribution to the brain injury community and all the resources the provide to brain injury survivors and their families (support groups, educational sessions and resources, access to assistive technologies, etc.)
