Review for Society of St. Andrew, Big Island, VA, USA
Supporting SoSA is a no brainer. Gleaning perfectly good food that would otherwise go to waste, SoSA provides millions of pounds of food per year to those in need. It's a sustainable philosophy. Food that would otherwise be thrown away is salvaged to help those in the local community. It also provides healthy choices for food bank recipients. Fresh, perfectly good food is a winning combination for recipients I can't say enough about the joy I get from gathering food in the morning and knowing that it can be on someone's table almost immediately! I've volunteered for a variety of organizations and SoSA accomplishes so much on a "shoe string" budget.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
seeing what it means for people to receive fresh produce at Harvesters in Kansas City.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
make sure more private, state and federal grant money was directed their way so they could utilize more resources to get produce out of the fields and orchards. (i.e. hire more people, organize transportation for produce etc.)
