I have been a volunteer with Serenity’s Grace for about 18 months now and I am absolutely delighted to be a part of this ministry. They are focused on direct support for the homeless and impoverished. I started with them at a weekly food pantry in the Paramore area of Orlando. We handed out fresh produce, fruits, milk, eggs, bread, canned goods and more. We would serve 60-80 people and their families every week. There were also occasions where we prepared and served hot meals and gave out clothing and blankets to those who needed them. There were plenty of opportunities to pray with those who needed or asked.
Then when COVID-19 struck we switched to handing out up to 200 prepared lunches a day, six days a week at different locations in Orlando and Altamonte Springs. Most of the time we focused on feeding the homeless around Lake Eola and the Paramore area of Orlando. On Thursdays we would bring the lunches and other food to the folks living at Remmington Inn in Altamonte Springs. When we had food remaining we would distribute it the homeless around Lake Dot and the Paramore area or take it to the Summertime Retirement Home near Lee Rd & I-4. Serenity’s Grace also had the good fortune through donations to bless the Summertime residences with furniture in half their rooms. We are still working on the other half. This is not a passive ministry.
I thank God for Serenity’s Grace for giving me the opportunity to serve my Lord in such a powerful manner. Words cannot describe the gratitude I see in people’s eyes when I hand their items. Koko Karras who runs the ministry along with her children Nikki & Steven and of course Koko’s granddaughter Serenity who inspired the ministry are more than amazing, they are truly a Godsend and blessing to Central Florida.
