As California's oldest land trust, Sempervirens Fund founded the state's first park, Big Basin Redwoods State Park, in 1902. The organization adopts and cares for the lush, ancient coast redwood forests blanketing the Santa Cruz Mountains, helping them survive and thrive through logging, wildfires, and now climate change and its myriad effects. The Sempervirens Fund folks really know and love the complex ecosystems of these amazing coast redwoods, which capture more carbon from the atmosphere than any other tree. The world needs more of them!
