Review for Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington, Washington, DC, USA
My son worked with Samaritan Ministry as an intern one summer twenty years ago, and I was so impressed with the organization that I joined in on their Christmas parties and other intermittent volunteer efforts over the years. Our church, St. Francis of Great Falls, has been a strong supporter with a member on the board for most of the years. When I retired, I joined as the Friday Front Office Coordinator at the Northern Virginia office. This is a great organization that gives individuals a chance to improve their lives with a trained social worker one on one as a participant in the "next step" program. We all need to take the next step, an I recommend you take the next step in your goal of ending homelessness supporting this organization with your time, talents, and treasure.

I see every participant that comes in on Fridays, and have gotten to know them. Setting goals and having the professional support of a social worker who is also an aide with disicipline and accountability is what SMGF is all about. Those that have no plans, plan for "nos". Listening to those that know takes a special person that make you want to listen. We certainly have two special social workers that make you want to listen.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
This is not a religious organization that professes a way to salvation, but I recommend open and truthful reliance on spiritual principles that come from Christ, whether you believe Him as Lord and Savior or not. Credit where credit is due, and if that credit is the source of all love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentilness, and self-control, the fruit of Christ's Spirit, then proclaim it.
