Review for Finisterre Vision, Gilbert, AZ, USA

Rating: 5 stars

In 2006 I had the experience of a lifetime when we spent 2 weeks in Papua New Guinea. We made this trip to visit our missionary couples serving the Mibu people high atop a remote mountaintop. Prior to this trip I learned about a visit made to Joey Tartaglia by a tribesman from the Ndo peoples. They came dressed in face paint, feathers and local garb with a note written in Pidgin which said in effect, "Please send missionaries to Ndo peoples." This was very impressive to me. Then, when visiting the new church among the Mibu peoples, Joey introduced me to a man from the Ndo Village who had come to speak to them. His message: please send missionaries to the Ndo peoples. I knew this would not be me, but this message burned in my heart and I've prayed for them since.
I rejoice that Finisterre Vision is now sending the messengers of Christ's powerful redemptive work to these same people.

Review for Tempe Community Action Agency (TCAA), Tempe, AZ, USA

Review for Tempe Community Action Agency (TCAA), Tempe, AZ, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I am involved with IHELP through TCAA. I am one of the core team members at my church coordinating the hosting and facilitating of IHELP guests on our campus by providing shelter, a meal, fellowship, community and a lunch for the next day. This has been an incredible experience for the membership of our church and it has all been made possible because of the management, direction and coordination of TCAA. They are visionary, selfless, hard-working and dedicated to making life easier and helping those who struggle find their way back onto their feet.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I love to see what happens with our volunteers when they come and serve then sit down to eat with our guests. They hear their stories, share their lives. They bring their children and their lives are impacted.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Have more access to grant writers to increase their funding and exposure. What they do is having an incredible impact on our community (consider the homeless man in Tempe who found and returned the laptop and $3300 - he is from IHELP). I'd love to see more opportunities for volunteer staff to possibly hire and train more of our guests

Role:  Volunteer & I write monthly newsletters, volunteer at IHELP hostings, attend TCAA meetings, work with our volunteers.
