I have been a supporter of Fistula Foundation for about 10 years. I had never heard about fistulas until I read an article by Nicholas Kristof in the New York Times about them. I decided it would be a way to honor my mother's memory..

The effects of fistulas are devastating on the women and girls who suffer from them. Fistula surgery allows them to live normal lives.

Supporting Fistula Foundation and the surgeries they underwrite is absolutely crucial to the betterment of our world.

I have been donating to this organization since I first heard about it in a column by Nicholas Kristof in the New York Times. I had never heard of fistulas before and considering the trauma suffered by these women and the surgery that can be done to correct it is a very worthy endeavor.

No woman should have to suffer this way.
