Hi my name is Javier Molea, I´ve been working as a bookseller for 30 years, half of it in NY. Booksellers usually are an afterthought for the book industry, everyone bosses you, even publicists just fresh after college with zero experience. We are underpaid, it´s like the McDonalds job for college graduates. So, you really have to love what you do but it is true that nobody roots for booksellers, not the ABA, not the authors, publishers, editors, (agents sometimes are the worst) everyone uses you. I applied to BINC twice and what I receive exceeded by far my expectations, mostly I got respect, and they are the obvious reason I'm still a bookseller, I can{t thank and appreciate them enough,.
