Review for Better Beginnings Inc, Santa Rosa, CA, USA
I'm in the privileged position of being someone who so greatly benefitted from what Better Beginnings for Babies does that it motivated me to volunteer, and eventually, hold a seat on the board. This is a wonderful organization serving Sonoma County, helping families have better health outcomes in postpartum care, breastfeeding, and beyond! They are almost single-handedly responsible for Sonoma County's incredible turnaround in the rate of families that are breastfeeding longer and the improved rate regarding postpartum maternity health outcomes. In short, this is an organization that truly embodies its name, from the incredibly charismatic president Rosanne Gephart, a Certified Nurse Midwife with more than 30 years of experience delivering babies, to every single volunteer that has given back through this organization's decade+ plus existence. To go from client, to volunteer, to board member, and now a donor due to relocating a decade ago, Better Beginnings for Babies is the notch on my resume of which I am the most proud to claim.
Review for Migrant Clinicians Network, Inc., Austin, TX, USA
I have more than a decade of experience working in the nonprofit world, so I have some credibility when I say that Migrant Clinicians Network (MCN) is a diamond in the rough. Often, nonprofits are organizations staffed by wonderful people whose visions cannot be put into place for any number of reasons, despite the very best of intentions. In contrast, MCN is an organization that does not simply envision a world made better through their efforts; they put dreams and practicality into action, delivering critical, necessary solutions with incredible real-world results. Their impact is simply unparalleled, particularly on the intersections of vulnerability, health, and justice. Interacting with any member of the staff, it quickly becomes evident that MCN is more than a job for them--it is a family working together to change the world through altruism and awareness, teamwork and initiative. The world is indeed a better, healthier place because of MCN.
