The Gabriel House of Care became a home away from home becoming the best and safest place for us during my transplant, recovery, and the unfortunate daily changing events from COVID-19. The staff at Gabriel was friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to ensure the comfort of my husband caregiver during my time in the Mayo Hospital and Brooks Rehab Hospital. My surgery and recovery were difficult which give my husband the freedom to come early and stay late because of the short drive on campus to the Gabriel House and Mayo allowing caregiver into the hospital. My transfer to Brooks Rehab added more problems for the staff at the Gabriel House trying to stay open and provide rooms for new Mayo transplant patients. The professional Gabriel staff provide the ultimate and first-class proposals to my husband on me entering the Gabriel House or moving to a hotel on campus when dismissed from Brooks if not dismissed from the Mayo at the same time because of COVID-19. We were lucky I was dismissed from Brooks and Mayo the same day and we went home. I never got to the Gabriel house as planed but future Mayo appointments I hope to visit and when the virus is over. “Thank God for Gabriel House” and Thank you, Mrs. Valerie Callahan and office staff for giving the care and support to my husband during time he was there.
