Review for Society of St. Andrew, Big Island, VA, USA

In the three years we have been involved in the Society of St. Andrews, we have gleaned in fields in Hastings, Welborn, Palatka, and many areas around Jacksonville. We have received as much as 800 pounds of potatoes at one time. We have picked broccoli, cabbage, potatoes, zuccini, squash, tomatoes, strawberries, and citrus. We had no idea that so many vegetables were left in the fields when farmers finish their harvest. We have also seen so many people waiting in line to collect food for the day. We have delivered food to pantries in Palatka, Orange Park, Lake City, and Mandarin, FL. We are thankful to be able to participate in this worthwhile program and thank you for the opportunity. We have been involved in delivering nutritional food to the agencies that go directly to the needy people. We have never seen so many people who need help and have been pleased to do a small part in helping!

This is an outstanding organization and we appreciate the organized program as it is. Wish we could offer info to help, but it is great as it is.

Role:  Volunteer & We picked food from the fields and also loaded food that was already packed in boxes ready for delivery. We picked citrus from the trees, picked up food to deliver to agencies that give out food to other agencies who cook daily for the needy. .
