Review for A Different Breed Animal Rescue, Dallas, TX, USA
I have been a volunteer with A Different Breed Animal Rescue since 2003, since its inception. I have also volunteered for many other rescues currently and over the past 30 years. Its a very difficult job as any rescuer will tell you. You are getting dogs that were found on the streets, dumped in the country, pulled from overcrowded kill shelters, abused, neglected and puppy mills.
They have very little resources, but do their best to save them and find them good safe forever homes. No one is paid, they spend tons of money from their own pocket and work tirelessly.
Yes, it would be nice if all the dogs had a foster home to fall back on, but those are few and far between. If limited to foster homes, so many dogs would be put down unnecessarily.
Puppies are the hardest. They are babies, they have not been vaccinated yet, they came from horrible conditions. Found in the street, under a house, thrown into someones yard or dumped at a high kill shelter. ANY rescue or animal shelter has to cross their fingers and deal with parvo and distemper. Many will not even take puppies in. They are expensive to treat and too many get sick. So to all those negative people, I suggest you step up to the plate and foster puppies, and get a taste of real life and what rescues do day in and day out.
