Review for Rainforest Action Network, San Francisco, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I worked on the Boise campaign a couple of years back when being an environmentalist was not hip and issues were rarely in mainstream news like it is today. I experienced the epic battle RAN had to go through in order to get through to large multinational corporations who were systematically and regularly destroying our environment. These corporations did not want to change and very often saw RAN as the enemy and used all the power they had (which was quite a lot - billions of $$) to discredit and crush RAN. But, that was not so easy when you have a highly organized and passionate organization whose aim is to do good. RAN uses creative and intelligent solutions for a win-win outcome. In the end, one wonders why all the resistance in the first place?

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

stopping the degradation of old growth forests.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

add happy hour to the list of things to do at the end of the day.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting the dedicated and interesting people who work tirelessly for the benefit of EVERYONE.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

creative and intelligent.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

save the world sooner than expected.

Ways to make it better...

the computers were upgraded.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

time and money.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I would have liked to meet the founders and other RAN organizers who are the backbone of this organization. That would have been very inspiring.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2002

Role:  Volunteer & I gathered information that was not easily available, like who the heads of corportion were, their direct phone numbers, etc., that RAN could use.
