This agency fills a void that existed for decades for families. For far too long, families have struggled with either/or choices regarding necessities (food OR toilet paper, gas for the car OR feminine hygiene supplies, etc.) Choices no family should have to make. I've been in the social work field for 20 years, and Giving the Basics helps so many families stop making those sacrifices any longer. It fills the gap the government assistance cannot, and by providing pantries all throughout the city in unpretentious locations, it allows families to discretely meet their needs without compromising their pride.
