Review for Medicine Horse Project, Imlay, NV, USA
I had the pleasure of meeting Chris and Morgan Nichols in August 2019. I found out through a Facebook post that a local children's horse camp was sending the herd off to the slaughter auction, they were no longer needed. How these horses became the camps trail horses is a whole other story, will not go there.
Chris and Morgan of The Medicine Horse Project jumped into action, and arranged to pick up the unwanted horses.
Six were picked up, and a seventh was added at a later date. My heart broke when I saw these rescued horses. An infected painful eye, rotten painful teeth, lameness and poor overall health. Their spirits were no where to be seen. These horses were ridden all summer, enduring their pain, for the pleasure of children.
Chris and Morgan quickly attended to their needs. Lots of love, Vet and Farrier care, and did I mention lots of love.
It was the goal of The Medicine Horse Project to bring out the spirit in each horse. I witnessed that. Each time I visited I could see each and every horse become Alive.
I fell in love and adopted Walter, now Wally. He needed some serious dental care that I was willing to finance. Morgan Nichols was gracious enough to transport Wally for his dental vet care to a Nevada vet clinic.
I also adopted a mini horse that Medicine Horse had rescued from another abusive situation.
I have such respect and love for Chris and Morgan Nichols, The Medicine Horse Project. They have devoted their lives for the rescue, rehabilatIng and Rehoming of so many wonderful horses.they will be my friends forever.
I have added a picture of Wally and Jennings, the mini horse.
